Happy Winter Solstice!

This morning (at 00:22 for those who inhabit the northern hemisphere) the sun was at its farthest point from the equator in an event known as the winter solstice. In other words, from here on in, the nights are getting shorter and the days are getting longer as we make our way headlong towards summer!

While you're waiting, why not spend some time hunting Haggis? That's right - it's time for the annual Haggis Hunt at the Scotsman! Hunting the haggis is so easy you can do it from the comfort of your own home. All you do is visit the website, browse through the haggis-cams showing parts of beautiful Scotland, London, and New York City, and if you see a haggis, just click on the "I saw a haggis" link displayed under the cam. You do have to register but it's free. Prizes include bottles of Champagne Gobillard NV, Scotsman calendars, and passes to The Scotsman's Digital Archive. The grand prize is a two night luxury break at the Gleneagles Hotel for two with full Scottish breakfast!

This is a haggis in its cooked state...very tasty, especially with the traditional whisky gravy.
Mmmm!

Slainte! {Gaelic for Cheers!}
